The New Ford Mustang’s base powertrain has been upgraded for the 2024 model year. The entry-level turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder EcoBoost engine now offers 5 horsepower more than the previous Mustang, producing up to 315 total horsepower. When equipped with the 5.0L Coyote V8, the 2024 Ford Mustang GT is rated for 415 lb-ft of torque and includes a standard six-speed manual transmission with Rev Matching. According to Ford, an optional performance exhaust increases output to 486 HP and 481 lb-ft of torque. Like EcoBoost models, Mustang GT models using the 5.0L V8 now offer an optional Performance Pack equipment upgrade.

The modified 5.0L DOHC naturally aspirated V8 engine generates up to 500 HP, making the Dark Horse the most powerful production Mustang 5.0 ever.
