The 2025 Ford Explorer is a family-friendly SUV with third-row functionality. The new Ford Explorer offers a thoughtful lineup of four distinct trim levels, including Active, ST-Line, ST and Platinum, and the SUV is available with two powertrains, including a turbocharged four-cylinder and a twin-turbo V6, each with a 10-speed automatic transmission and the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive.
The 2025 Ford Explorer features a reworked front fascia with a new grille, headlamps and lower air inlets, new taillamps at the rear and interior updates focused on comfort and upgraded materials, including new color schemes and soft-touch surfaces on the center console and door panels. The 2025 Ford Explorer’s entry-level Active trim comes with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine rated for 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, which produces up to 21 MPG city and 28 MPG highway. New for 2025, all grades come standard with the Class III Trailer Tow Package for 5,000 pounds of max towing capacity, and Active gets Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, including Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane-Centering.

2025 Ford Explorer ST-Line
The 2025 Ford Explorer’s ST-Line trim level gets sportier design elements and keeps the standard 300-hp turbo 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with the 10-speed automatic transmission. ST-Line is updated with Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0, which includes additional driver assist features like Evasive Steering Assist, Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Speed Sign Recognition, Stop-and-Go and Lane-Centering.
The new Ford Explorer ST-Line’s Onyx interior features ActiveX™ seating material with cloth inserts and distinctive red stitching, and other key features include 20-inch painted alloy wheels, a flat-bottom ST steering wheel, heated second-row seats, power folding mirrors and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system. ST-Line is Ford BlueCruise equipped, which uses existing technologies like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering Assist to help reduce the stress of driving, allowing drivers to experience hands-free highway driving on 97% of controlled access highways in the U.S. and Canada.

2025 Ford Explorer ST
The 2025 Ford Explorer’s sporty ST grade is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine rated at 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available, and ST combines extra power with a stiffer, sport-tuned suspension for a more engaging, spirited driving experience. High-performance brakes and paddle shifters are included on ST as well.
The new Ford Explorer ST is Ford BlueCruise equipped for hands-free highway driving, while available features like a black painted roof and twin panel moonroof can be added. ST’s interior is enhanced with Onyx ActiveX™ seating material with Miko inserts, stitching and ST logo, a flat-bottom ST steering wheel, heated second-row seats and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen Sound System.

The 2025 Ford Explorer’s top-spec Platinum grade gets an elevated design focused on comfort and convenience with additional tech advancements and high-quality appointments. Platinum offers a sophisticated Mojave Dusk interior with leather seating surfaces with Miko micro-perforated inserts or a Salt Crystal Gray interior with leather seating surfaces with tri-diamond micro-perforated inserts, which is included with the available Lux Leather Package and 20-inch polished aluminum wheels.
The new Ford Explorer Platinum comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0, and the model is Ford BlueCruise equipped to help reduce stress by allowing hands-free highway driving. Platinum has additional highlighted features like Platinum branded seats, heated and ventilated front seats, a twin panel moonroof and the B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen with 14 speakers, including a subwoofer and 980-watt amplifier.
